Hello Prof Doc Efe Anaughe, please tell us about yourself.

I am Prof Doc Efe Anaughe, a humanitarian, lawyer, and human rights activist with over three decades of experience in empowering women and marginalized communities. I founded and currently serve as CEO of the Warien Rose Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1988/89. Through this foundation, we provide advocacy, social development, empowerment programs, emotional support groups, and human rights services.

I am a recognized expert in anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) and anti-corruption compliance. I have successfully completed the International Anti-Corruption Academy's Course on "AML/CFT and Anticorruption Compliance: comparative aspects and practical implementation" and am a certified AML/CFT and Anticorruption Compliance Manager.

As a gender-based violence specialist and gender equity advocate, I have dedicated my career to advancing the rights of women and girls. I am the convener and founding coordinator of NGOs CSOs Consortium International, a global initiative with numerous country chapters and over 3000 member NGOs in Nigeria alone.

My humanitarian work has garnered numerous awards, and I am proud to be a triple gold medalist. I have authored several articles and contributed to publications, including "40 Pearls Of Wisdom," where I wrote on "Tenacity." For the past 20 years, I have hosted "Love Bug," a popular relationship show on UNILAG 103.1 FM, and I am the author of "The Bachelorette Column" in the Sun Newspaper Nigeria.

I serve on the boards of several organizations, including Zuritech Limited, Zuriel Earthworks Limited, and Warien Rose International. I am the Acting Regional Chair and Regional Manager of AML/CFT CSO Forum West Africa and Chair of AML/CFT CSO Forum Nigeria.

In 2024, I founded the Warien Rose Academy, an institution dedicated to providing specialized training and education for all genders while ensuring equal opportunities and representation. I earned my Doctorate in Business Administration in February 2024 from the Roxbourg Institute of Social Entrepreneurship (RISE).

I am deeply passionate about humanity, particularly issues affecting women and girls. I have been appointed the G100 Nigeria Country Chair on Domestic Abuse, a global body comprised of distinguished individuals.

When did you realize you wanted to be a social entrepreneur? How did you define your purpose?

My journey as a social entrepreneur began in 1989, during my university days, when I had a profound encounter with a roommate struggling to pay her school fees. Her determination to fetch firewood to raise funds for her education.

I realized that my purpose was to empower individuals and communities through acts of kindness and sacrifice. I began by supporting my roommate and later my classmates in need, providing financial assistance and resources to help them overcome their challenges.

This experience taught me that social entrepreneurship is not just about addressing social issues, but also about empowering individuals and communities to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Through Warien Rose Academy, I aim to expand this impact in the larger society, partnering with Roxbourg Institute of Social Entrepreneurship (RISE) to provide professional higher education modules with the Women Leaders Executive MBA program.

I believe that together, we can create a brighter future for all. Our mission is to provide hope and demonstrate love in practical ways, empowering individuals and communities to overcome suffering, pain, and deprivation.

What was your first project? What were your lessons learnt?

My inaugural project was providing financial assistance to individuals I met during my academic journey This marked the beginning of a transformative journey, from Rhema Connect to the establishment of Warien Rose Foundation and the launch of Warien Rose Academy.

Warien Rose Academy was born out of rigorous research aimed at empowering women and restoring their voices. Throughout history, women like Queen Amina of Zaria, Queen Moremi of Ile-Ife, and Funmilayo Ransome Kuti have demonstrated exceptional courage and boldness. However, in today's patriarchal society, women are often marginalized and treated as second-class citizens.

I have learned that I must channel my energy into being a solution provider. As a change maker, I am committed to actively addressing these inequalities and working towards a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

Describe your journey? Smooth sailing or a roller coaster ride?

My personal and professional journey has been marked by challenges and obstacles, but I have developed resilience and perseverance over the years. Born into a polygamous family, I learned early on to navigate complex family dynamics and cultivate a strong sense of focus and determination. My father, a Cambridge University graduate and retired diplomat, exposed me to diverse global experiences through our extensive travels. These experiences profoundly shaped my life and perspective. My upbringing has earned me the reputation of being "tenacious" and driven to succeed, even in the face of adversity. My faith and commitment to justice and doing good in the world are the sources of my strength and motivation. I am resolute in my pursuit of making a positive impact and standing up for those who have been wronged.

What are you building right now? What is your ambition?
